Lofts are very popular these days. People are attracted to the condo alternative. It's a lifestyle that appeals to many because of the open concepts and the possibilities of using the space for many things. For example to live & work in your space.

There are 2 Loft Styles:

True Lofts are a conversion of a vintage factory / warehouse

· There are 2 types of construction:

exposed bricks, wood beam posts & perhaps wood ceilings (ie: Candy
Factory or Gotham Lofts)

concrete floors, ceilings, & concrete pillars (ie: the Merchandise
Building & the Brewery lofts)

· These typically have ceilings 10 ft or higher
·
Open duct work / pipes on ceiling o Open concept layouts
·
Not always in the best neighbourhoods (since they were former factories /warehouses)

Soft Lofts are newly constructed condos that builders call "lofts" because they may have one or more of the following features:

· higher ceilings than typical condos (usually 8 ft)
· an open concept layout
· a 2 level space o large widows
· some unique feature such as a movable wall to hide a room
· Open duct work / pipes on ceiling
·
Concrete walls & ceilings
· typically in better neighbourhoods
